Now that Android 4.4 KitKat has officially arrived, the question is when will my device receive this new update
Nexus Devices - These will be the first to receive the update and Google has promised to release Android 4.4 KitKat for their Nexus lineup in the coming weeks. These include the
Google Play Edition Devices - The Google Play Edition devices will next in line for the KitKat update which should follow the Nexus devices.
Non-Nexus Devices: These fall into a couple of subcategories: Current Flagships - This means HTC One, SGS4 and any other huge current devices. Given that OEM are now much faster with updating their devices we hope to see it arrive sooner rather than later...
Past Flagships - Note 2, SGS3, HTC Butterfly etc. There's a strong chance these will see the update, but it is still too early to tell. It all depends on the workloads of the OEM coders and how long the OEMs want to support them. Also, if there will be a security fix or something down the line this would increase the chance they just roll it into 4.4.
Old Flagships, mid rangers, budget devices, niche devices will likely not receive official KitKat updates... Though you should look out for the update through your favorite custom ROM developers.
